#AroostookThing of the
week: Island
Falls Summer Fest Pie Run 5k in Island Falls.
“I like pie.”
If
you are a fan of the adult animated sitcom South Park, you probably remember this
phrase being uttered numerous times by Eric Cartman, arguably the show’s most popular
character.
If
you were not a fan of South Park, you most likely will still be able to relate
to the phrase.
I
mean, who doesn’t like pie?
My
substantial skills in the area of deductive reasoning tell me that if you are
reading this, you most likely are also interested in being outdoors or running
5k races.
So,
if you like pie, and you like running and outdoorsy stuff, then you MUST attend this Saturday’s Island Falls Summer Fest Pie Run 5k in
Island Falls.
The
event is staged out of the Island Falls Municipal Building, including a Kids’ Run that starts at
8:45 a.m., while the Walk/Run starts at 9:00 a.m.
The
pièce de résistance is that winners receive their choice of homemade pies and
other delectable desserts. And, from what I am told, no one goes home
empty-handed from this event, as there are more than enough pieces of pie to go
around.
The
cost to enter is a modest $15 on race day, and the first 100 registrants receive
a t-shirt.
See
offugo the full listing
of this event.
#AroostookNote: Check out the River Café for lunch while you are in town. If you still
have room left in your belly after The Pie Run, you won’t be disappointed.
