CARIBOU: Caribou Rec. Take It Outside Series Adult Deer Yard/Greenhouse. Travel with Wildlife Biologist Amanda DeMusz to learn what it takes to manage deer. Adult Take It Outside Series Deboullie Day Hike trip from Caribou to Deboullie Public Reserved Land, just south of St. Francis. Getting outdoors is just part of who I am. But that was not always the case. A couple of watershed moments in my life include reading Donn Fendler’s story “Lost on A Mountain in Maine” when I was a boy and taking my first trip to Deboullie as a young man. One was important for what it sparked. The other, for what it reinforced. As boyhood heroes go, Donn Fendler was right up there with leftfielder Carl Yastrzemski of the Boston Red Sox, firefighter John Gage of the Los Angeles County Fire Department ("Emergency!" If you need it to get down the ski hill, you can probably find it at a ski swap. For those of us in Aroostook, November is ski swap season – four of ‘em between now and Thanksgiving! To me, the ski swaps are the harbinger of all things good. In my world, that means snow, and of course, skiing. Among all the amazing goods you can find at ski swaps, don’t forget that they also usually provide a chance to pick up your season passes to your local ski hill.
